A Legacy Etched Into the Hills of Burgundy
Experience the legacy of Maison Louis Latour through its iconic grand crus from the Hill of Corton—Corton-Charlemagne Chardonnay and Corton Grancey Pinot Noir—each a reflection of centuries of tradition and Burgundy’s legendary terroir.

Where It All Began: Emperor Charlemagne
Charlemagne once ruled vast lands across Burgundy, including the Corton hill. Legend has it that he gifted these prized vineyards to the Abbey of Saulieu (or the Abbey of Bèze) in the 8th century. These monks continued cultivating vines on this extraordinary terroir, laying the foundation for one of Burgundy’s most iconic vineyards.

Why This Land Matters: The Hill of Corton & UNESCO
The Hill of Corton is one of Burgundy’s crown jewels — a landscape shaped by limestone soils, a perfect climate for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and centuries of refined viticulture. In 2015, this unique patchwork of vineyard parcels known as the Climats of Burgundy was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, further cementing its place in the global wine story.

Our Role in the Story: The Louis Latour Legacy
Since 1797, Domaine Louis Latour has remained a family-run estate, proudly preserving the traditions of Burgundy’s most distinguished appellations. As stewards of Corton-Charlemagne, our commitment to excellence ensures each vintage reflects the heritage and harmony of this exceptional land.
The White Jewel of Burgundy
When phylloxera devastated the vineyards of Corton, the Latour family chose to replant Chardonnay — a bold decision that would yield one of the most iconic white wines in France. Corton-Charlemagne is now celebrated for its depth, elegance, and age-worthiness.
