Louis Latour Meursault 1er Cru Château de Blagny
If you ask any wine professional where their hearts (and taste buds) lead them to, don’t be surprised if all roads point to Burgundy. These are the holy lands; the place of pilgrimage and the object of wine nerd’s desire. The region’s chillier climate and crisp limestone soils yield incredible and exceptional bottlings.
And if you’re on the fence about that fact, open this wine. It’s produced by the sons of 11th generation Burgundy legend Louis Latour, and the family’s pedigree reign—Latour is still one of the finest Burgundian producers within the region.
This bottle comes from just south of Volnay and Pommard, in the Meursault region of the Côte-d’Or, a region known for its knack for producing brilliant, silvery white wines. Louis Latour’s 1er Cru Château de Blagny is from one of the best plots in the area, showcased through the shimmering, pale golden color and nuanced richness.
On the nose, aromatic notes of almond and jasmine. On the palate, it’s an incredible balance between a tense minerality and a giving body—lively and crisp but also textural and intense.
